I'll give you one other thing it accomplished. It kept harding working middle class people working their asses off, and having fewer children all the while it allowed low intelligence lazy ass people to keep on popping out kids they didn't really want, but gained a monetary incentive to keep on producing.

That formula is a recipe for disaster. Those with enough intelligence to know they can't afford more kids subsidized those that lacked that intelligence. What did you get? More fucking stupid lazy people that were raised to think the world owes them a living.

I'll add one more thing to that rant. The money that was supposed to go to the war on poverty was by and large stolen to line of the pockets of those that doled out the scraps, and the poor stayed right where they wanted them.

The war on poverty is only won at the level of the individual, and the fucking government isn't going to help you win it. You win or you lose on your own personal drive and ambition.
