I’ve read the organic from the store is still poison.

Think about it. Organic (no pesticides) on plant foods in the store became very popular. People were willing to pay premium prices for them. So, what does a BigAg company that only cares about profit and not about health do when they see such a trend?

The tell their chemists to figure out how to genetically modify plant foods so that they are grafted in with pesticides. Thus, the new "organic" plant does not need to be sprayed with chemicals because the chemical is ALREADY INSIDE the plant.

Most "organics" in supermarkets today are modified this way, and may be more harmful than regular -- and command a premium price to boot.

I just don’t know what to do other than trying to find a good farmer around here.

Bingo. Do it.

It shouldn’t be THIS hard, and it makes me angry

Yes, and there is a reason why it is so hard ...
