I have been saying for years that China had some old scores to settle with the West over the Opium Wars that destroyed Chinese lives for profit and nearly destroyed the country. It was the beginning of the end for almost two thousand years of dynastic rule in China. Isolationism and internal corruption brought the mighty Qing Dynasty to its knees due to lack of modernization that could not stand up to the mighty British Military. Payback is a MF. The return of Hong Kong was just the beginning of restitution. The lessons of the past are not lost on the Chinese and they have been methodically and systematically modernizing not only their industry, but their military. All while the collective West basks in the illusion of their hegemony.

The Chinese also have a debt to settle with Japan that is overdue. Don't think for one minute that Japan is not aware of that day of reckoning. IMO, the recent hit on Abe was just a warning shot across the bow for Japan.

The Chinese play the long game and are willing to wait for the right moment. The West's big problem is its hubris in viewing countries like China and Russia as they were in the past. Those countries have moved dramatically forward in terms of their technologies, infrastructure, financial systems, and their militaries. They have been advancing while many within our Western governments have been asleep to those changes and continuing to live in the past. They continue to think places like China and Russia are no match for the West. That has not been the case for decades. That arrogance is going to bite us in the ass and both Russia and China will use our pride against us. For anyone paying close attention to this proxy war in Ukraine, beyond the propaganda, they should recognize that the collective West is being challenged in a way that they have not seen since the second world war. Russia is fighting for its life and China has scores to settle. What are we fighting for? I hate to say it, but it seems like this time, we are on the wrong side of history in this one and we are going to pay bigly when the check comes due.
