Today's Sunday School lesson was from 2 Kings where there was a lockdown in Samaria (I think) due to war and famine and the people were eating the most awful things after paying enormous amounts of silver prices due to food shortages.. Elisha predicted a miraculous ending to the famine and poverty "by noon the next day". God provided the miracle by causing the Aramean army to "think" they heard invading chariots and stuff, to which they panicked and left their camp outside of Samaria, abandoning all their provisions, food, and coin. 4 lepers discovered this and basically saved the starving Samarians by sharing the good news of their discovery with the King of Israel by telling the city gatekeeper.

The title of this lesson is "God provides."

Now, I saw lots of parallels. Do you?

  1. Locked down city.
  2. Food shortage.
  3. Inflated prices.
  4. War (seemingly).
  5. Citizen Journalists (lepers) in the least likely places--outcast from the city coming through with the good news.
  6. God's prophets reminding of God's faithfulness and miracles.
  7. Panic causing stupid exits+leaving valuable stuff behind.
  8. Mistrust between leaders and Kings.

Well, now I have just remembered that tomorrow is Miracle Gro Monday.

Hmmm.
