Hollywood was essentially born from vaudeville. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaudeville
The period around the 1920’s is also significant, where many artist and writers met in Paris. They were performing magic rituals and what not, networking, and starting the cultural shift in architecture, novels, and all types of art towards modernism.
I remember reading about all these writers in Paris last year, unfortunately I cant remember who exactly, it was a rabbit hole. But essentially the birth of modernism came from these artist who set the tone for the rest entertainment industry thereafter; and like I mentioned before, they did “spiritual” practices including witchcraft.

- all of these movements incorporated philosophy that rejected the artist and era’s prior to them.
If I can remember any of the significant authors and artist I’ll come back and post their Wikipedia links. Maybe someone else can chime in too.
