I think you're right, what puzzles me is how far back is its origins, it's easy to see it in the writings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, so that's 1840s. Engels writes ad nauseum about patriarchal vs matriarchal struggles and injustices since the dawn of days.

Many of the mystery religions worshiped feminism with the celebration of the "moon blood" the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, mostly in Paganism but some found its way in Christianity as well.

If we look to the scripture we find the struggles of Nimrod and Semiramis as they lie, plot, plan and murder their way to totalitarian control over their domain and each other.

Some might even say its roots can be found in eden.
