I have a small no-frills, no timer $20 drip coffee maker designed by Philips (Probably manufactured in China) that someone pretty much handed down to me. It’s been working fine for seven years. It doesn’t require a paper filter because it uses a very strong fine plastic mesh that I have cleaned and reused hundreds of times . I should probably replace it with a metal mesh filter which would be even more durable. Because it uses a mesh rather than paper, it allows the coffee’s oils to pass through unlike most paper filters. I do like using espresso one cup machines, but I highly recommend a reusable filter type type of coffee maker as it makes more than one cup at a time without the need for purchasing anything extra except for coffee and water.

A great thing about this type of coffee maker is if the electricity goes out I can still use this coffee maker by simply pouring hot water into a full coffee filter and letting it drip through. Hopefully when the shit hits the fan, my gas stove will still work or else I will have to build a camp fire.
