I think there are degrees to this. Levay’s flavor of Satanism is intentionally cartoonish. Satanism became “acceptable” during the cultural revolution of the 60’s. America was still very much a Christian Society back then so in order to have America accept Satanism, it first had to be introduced as a protected class even if it was cartoonish and silly.
