Openly anti Trump National Review bros were in on the scheme but are being covert so as to not tip off MAGA around their true motivations. They're letting the CONservative wolves wearing MAGA camo handle things. For now.
They view Youngkin as their anti Trump backup candidate if Ron doesn't pan out.
Bottom line, all they really care about is getting rid of Trump so they can coopt a leaderless and still young MAGA Movement like they coopted the Tea Party Movement that never had a national leader and guardian.
