SPECULATION: I think it has something to do with his name being John Paul I. My understanding is that most popes try to take a name of a previous pope. There may have been something significant about that particular name that whitehats and blackhats were fighting over.

Clearly some behind the scenes battles happening in 1978, and the MOST interesting thing is that 2022 is equivalent to 1978 in terms of the cabal play that they ran in both 1976 and 2020 to steal both elections and install their Communist candidates (Carter/Mondale and Biden/Harris).
