It's a good reminder to anyone having a family just how easy it is to turn a lovely family's world into a nightmare. The only reason the 'Safe Families Act' remains in the books is because of widespread corporate censorship. There are several people, including politicians, that have been murdered trying to get the word out about this Act. For CPS to show up at your door any anonymous caller, whether real or fiction, can legally bear false witness against you and your family. There is no facing your accuser because this is all 'administrative'. Parents are thrown in a world of terrifying abuse, legal fees, and loss of their children.

It was mind-blowing to listen to other parents tell of their horrifying tales of when CPS showed up at their doors from an "anonymous" tip. This is probably where 'SWATing" someone got started. I recall being alarmed about these stories. Even meeting people who had their own kids confiscated for no real reason at all, to never see them again. They were sold off before any legal representation got traction.

I remember asking my son, who is now in his 30s, if anyone at his elementary school ever asked him any personnel questions about how he felt. He responded by telling me that every morning when entering the class room they would ask the kids to put on paper how they felt on a 1 to 5 scale. He said it was voluntary though. I was was shocked to hear this. I asked him if he ever wrote down anything that could be considered bad. He said "No" and he usually wrote a 3 down, which means "doing okay". It was probably a good answer, but I instructed him at that opportune time he should never volunteer information like that. That it is strictly personal and no one have the right to know. It's family business and these people are strangers that have not earned the family's trust.

As a rule, tell your children that they have the right not answer questions in school. Tell them all teachers, staff, and other personnel there are strangers. Never talk to a stranger about how you feel or about your family and that they are strictly personal. The parents decide on who is not a stranger. Know your neighbors. Be a good ambassador to them. Never piss them off.
