/facepalm We don't pick out verses by themselves and ignore the audience and historical setting or we get things VERY wrong.

Who was Jesus addressing? Did he say "YOU will hear" to them or "PEOPLE will hear"? And what was the topic? The end of the AGE, not world.

If it was to that audience then they are dead and it's happened. So we look to the Bible and historical events. Hmmm... Jerusalem & temple was destroyed ending animal sacrifice which was fulfilled by the death of Jesus. Sounds like the end of an age doesn't it? Along with that Rome making war all over. Earthquakes, sky events, and some real wrath of God accounts from Rome's siege of Jerusalem. Rome had 7 hills with 7 governors... sound familiar? Remember the 7 headed 7 horned beast?

Up until 200ish years ago Christians understood this to be about the destruction of Jerusalem by Rome. You can thank the Scofield Reference Bible for screwing that up and introducing the trash eschatology that has taken over and neutered Christians. No one polishes brass on a sinking ship. Satan knows this. Everyone is waiting to be raptured and not fulfilling the great commission.

The founders didn't start this great nation thinking the end was near. Why do you?
