btw, I really really like the Matrix – and the enduring red pill symbolism is something we all attach ourselves to, but much like the other films in 1999 like Fight club, it may well have only been green lit as a part of a larger effort to turn the idea of terrorism (Fight Club) and mass murder of innocent by-standards (Matrix) into something that doesn’t trigger as many moral red flags.
