Secretary of State is 3rd in line behind the VP. Neither Speaker nor President Pro Tempore are "Officers of the United States" and are not eligible in the order of presidential succession, regardless of what the current standing statute says. It's unconstitutional.

Interesting! Did not know that the Secretary of State was 2nd in line behind the VP, that the others are not "officers" and thus are ineligible. Will need to dig on that a little.
