In the USA, the biggest events I can think of, were the ungodly Indian Removal Act (sorry, but shame on Jackson for his enforcement of it) and the Webster–Hayne debate... There's a Lincoln connection with the latter event, and more importantly this was arguably the start of the outright Rebellion that would unfold in 1860. Apostles of Disunion... Robert Hayne was quite the fireeating shithead.
