This is along the lines of the conclusion I've reached. For twenty years, I've drifted between eastern philosophy, various forms of occultism, and nothingness. Only in the last couple of years have I felt called back to Christ, mostly as a result of the Q movement. And my conclusion is this:

Sin is just the biblical word for attachment. All sin is a form of attachment. Greed is attachment to money, lust is attachment to sex and romance, etc. Lose your attachments, stop sinning, and you are no longer a slave to this physical world. And then you know God. God has no attachments. He only is, and he is love. That's all. That's why Jesus said that when we lay down our lives for another, there is no greater love. Because that's the moment we completely lose attachment to our own selfish desires and think only of the greater good of our fellow humans. WWG1WGA.

ETA that most people are incapable of losing all attachments, which is why Jesus is the way. He's the only way we get to God without completely clearing our earthly attachments, hence why Christians have the upper hand over followers of eastern philosophy. My humble opinion.
