My experiences today, eight days before Christmas:

  • When someone tells me Happy Holidays I’ve started saying Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays was mostly likely started to avoid offending Christian haters and include other holidays. Yet, Hanukkah and Ramadan get separate mentions, not Happy Holidays.
  • Local BBQ restaurant that’s been open since the 50’s was very busy but it’s the first time the food was cold, but delicious. (Maybe because temps in 40s & restaurant is big open space)
  • Hubby almost got run over by robot floor sweeper in Sam’s Club. I saw a lady dodging it later.
  • Continue to see people wearing mask indoors and out.
  • Driving on I95 saw two 18 wheelers swerving from lane to lane. Probably over worked from Christmas demand.
  • Furniture shopping and the lady says the fabric shortage is so bad she doesn’t do custom orders anymore. There’s no guarantee the manufacturer then will be able to deliver.
  • After two weeks living in limbo the painter finished the front part of the house. I can finally get my kitchen back and wrap presents. Might bake a little. Next are the bedrooms and bathroom.
  • On the positive note I don’t have to take down Christmas decorations this year.
  • Lastly I miss the days you could walk into the local stores and find what you need. It’s part of the plan, I think. They want us dependent or to do with out. It would be nice to go into a local store and buy everything you need for yourself and your home. I wonder if it’s to keep the large companies like Amazon and Walmart in charge and maybe to track what you buy. Maybe I’m old fashioned because I grew up with out online shopping.
