I guess it is, as you point out, just scaredy people with a low faith threshold, anything that they perceive as challenging that faint flicker of hope they're posting/reading about hurts them in the feefees and they downvote.

Even though all you're doing is pointing out a fact, like here, we're not saying trends aren't free from censoring, we're just saying that this particular trend in the "for you" tab is not at all indicative of the overall mood on twitter.
