When I was a little guy in the late 60s and early 70s Grandpa would take me to the cabin near Missanabie, Ontario fishing every summer. It was on a lake that no roads led to and the only way to get there was by float plane. We would drive up to Wawa from Detroit, then take the flight to the lake. The cabins were operated by the local Indian Tribe and they would provide guide services. This place was so remote that while walking around the site one evening a fox came out of the woods and just stared at me 10 feet away.

Bill was my Grandpas best friend up there. And we would sit around the fire at night and Bill and Grandpa would make me popcorn cooked in bacon grease with a little bear fat. Bill would tell the stories of his Tribe and Grandpa his of WW1 and hunting and fishing all around North America. Id listen fascinated eating popcorn.

Bill had actually proposed to my mother when she was 16 years old before she met my father. After Grandpa died Bill came and stayed with us for an entire summer. This would have been 1974 when I was almost 10. It was the last time I saw him.

Good memories and glad to tell it to people who havent heard all my stories, same as they were glad to tell me theirs, lol.
