Don't get me wrong: dumb people fuck stuff up all the time. Ask anyone in IT... Or any job, really.

What gets me is I find it unlikely (not impossible) that one data file that is of critical importance doesn't have access control and near-instant restoration in case of failure. State DMV software developed in house by government employees, and propriety 3rd party vendor software has this... (I know, ee have guys that installed it for clients at the day job). I guarantee the FAA has something a little more robust.
