The theory is that they were grounded to stop certain assets from being able to move temporarily, possibly to scare them or verify their location, since it would make them sitting ducks essentially. Possibly some arrests we don't know about yet. Nothing that i can say that's a clear truth yet though.

I posted on a thread about how emergency systems are practically bullet proof and it's impossible to interrupt unless you basically outright sabotage it or physically interfere with the system. A "program" or "router" can't stop transmissions since they are on a hard line backup. Which says to me either military or high level law enforcement grounded them. That's my theory for now. Along with giving the ability to get more military planes up, of course, since the sky is vacant.
