We are, in fact back in the 80s I remember my teachers saying that if North Dakota were to secede from the Union we would be the third largest nuclear power in the world.

We also have two large Force Bases in Minot and Grand Forks.

Oh and the Chinese corn processing plant that was supposed to open near Grand Forks no longer will be. The air force has deemed it a security threat.
