I think the herbal literature/pharmacopeia and home remedies weren't affected as much by regulation as were naturapaths or perhaps homeopaths (at least back when antibiotics came on the scene). The only herb they took off the market that I miss is ephedra...on the other hand, they shut down (and killed) many good alternative doctors. Many herbs that have been banned are available homeopathically. I have a collection of effective home/folk remedies that I have collected over the years...and I had 5 kids to experiment on...so I know what works...it was always fun finding an effective cure, the simpler the better. I've been doing this for over 50 years...
