Sorry, no, I really have to nitpick here, for your and our own good. Kari Mullis said it was "just a process that could make a whole lot of something out of something" and that "it doesn't tell you that you're sick". This was about HIV/AIDS in the 90's.

He died in 2019, so he couldn't have known about COVID. You are correct, that the PCR test is not effective for testing for the COVID disease, but he never mentioned COVID.
