Often for mental issues you use two approaches in COMBINATION:
#1 Behavioral/Mental therapy AND
#2 Medical intervention - Often people have imbalanced chemicals in their body - not enough Seratonin or Prozac which leaves them depressed and upset. Medications can be used very carefully to help achieve a natural balance. This must be done with extreme caution, because some patients are to depressed, weak and tired to commit suicide. With treatment a few will commit suicide because they have the energy and strength to do so after they feel better from the medication.
My husband watches these two programs that are done by men who were in special ops - Rangers and Navy Seals. Both also worked for the CIA after the wars. Extensive service, trauma experience and have been in situations that boggle the mind. They talk about the PTSD that happens afterwards and how they cope. Most of them, if not all, felt suicidal after their experiences. They often interview superb guests who are other vets. Many were in special ops. It might be good for him to look into these men or write them. From what I have seen, always an excellent show with good tips and interviews.
And it would to call the SUICIDE PREVENTION for some referrals or if he really is feeling suicidal at the moment. It might be very helpful to find more information an alternate websites. Don't use Google search engine.

Many men said joined the military after incidents such as 9/11. They've been disabled, killed, tortured, executed, killed many people and lost friends. I don't know how they will react and cope when they find out it was an inside job by the US. With disclosure, we will have to be aware of this and help them any way we can.
