Know this truth:

The Expression "CULT" was weaponized in the 1970's in the same way that "Conspiracy Theory" was weaponized in the 1960s.

Prior to the 1970's, the concept of a 'cult' (aka destructive, small fringe religious group that brainwashes its adherents) did not exist.

Is it a coincidence that the C_A had been developing their brainwashing techniques (MK Ultra, etc) and then somehow the MSM began projecting this activity on to any new religious movements that threatened the public's view of the status quo? (no).

As the OP points out, 'cult' is now (and even then) was used to label "any group of people who don’t Buy their Destructive, Calculated BS !!!"

If Jesus had come in 1950 instead of 2000 years ago, he would have been labeled a cult leader by the MSM.

I'm not saying that destructive fringe groups don't exist, but this has ALWAYS been the case in the history of faith and religion. In addition to that, however, reformation of existing religion almost always comes due to some 'fringe' group pushing new boundaries of understanding. (The Israelites, the first Christians, St Francis, Luther, etc, etc,)

See the following post for a review of the origins of the expression 'cult', and how it was transformed mid-70s.

I am a Proud Member of the Qanon 'Cult' (repost) (= I reject the label you are attempting to force on anons)

(Note "Qanon" used here because it is the label the propaganda news was using when I wrote the post, in 2018)
