Because some people have made this their identity. This picking sides and judging anyone else as actually less holy, if not evil, for not holding the same views, is a snobby business. Gotta always be more savvy, and or enamored by the stars of this season than the next poster. That's how you get that sweet validation. So when you suggest there may be something less than wholly impressive with someone that's being championed like this, some people may feel that as a disapproval of their identity.
