“Humans are inherently evil vs inherently good” is a laughable debate. The answer is very simple. Having the knowledge of both good and evil, humans have the capacity for both - and each of us have the opportunity to evolve by adhering only to what is good, and eventually becoming one with our father in heaven.

Fortunately, the only sin or evil any sincere person needs to worry about is ignorance, since it is only that darkness that keeps us living in sin / illusion. With understanding comes a cessation of sin, because when one KNOWS all the effects of their actions, the illusion of the wrong choice is dispelled. And that understanding, that there is no choice, is true freedom - liberation from illusion.
