Not true at all. The term "new age" is alot broader than beliefs. It encompasses multiple avenues of society. Music, literature, science, etc. New Age rock, new age politics, new age anything. It's more wordplay nonsense you want to get hung up on so you feel more in control of the world around you. Wierd you speak of "cults" but you insist one must adhere to a set denomination or face damnation.
