Pharisees were and are the piety policing Comply or Die Guys. Christ refused to comply. Consequently, the pharisees had Christ crucified for His sacrilege and blasphemy.

The ONLY prayer Christ taught his followers to say asks that God forgive me as I forgive others. Christ assured us that Our Father hears and will answer our prayers.
