Right now, I'm hoping President Trump allows the other candidates, who are relative unknowns, to have this opportunity to be in the national spotlight which won't be possible if he attends the "debate".

If Trump attends, the spotlight will be on him, whether he wants that to happen or not. The unknowns/lesser knowns would be completely over shadowed.

Consequently, both the candidates and voters would miss out if President Trump participated in this debate. :-).
