I have IT friend working in Houston at the time when that was happening in 2020.

The Chinese were definitely using the embassy as a base to hack into research centers and universities.

Galveston Island which is south of Houston has a level 4 Bio lab like Wuhan, one of 3 in the US. Chinese were trying to get in there too.

Friend caught how Chinese got in, FBI came in to investigate. Friend was told not to say anything.
