The reality of the technologies that have already been developed (not scavenged, you galactic federation shills) are so unbelievable that most people would not be able to handle it. As in they would need to be institutionalized for at least several weeks in order to figure out what reality actually is.

The tech I linked above is early 2000's tech. We don't need implants. We can mess with whoever we want, however we want, whenever we want, and we only need a day or two of observation and calibration in order to do it... Welcome to the future...
