There's many different types of boots. Motorcycle, work, hiking, dress and cowboy boots. I've probably left out a few styles. If you mean traditional cowboy boots do some research online, YouTube might have videos on different cowboy styles. I finally got cowboy boots about eight years ago and I tried on boots for months. Ariat and Justin are probably the most popular brands and less expensive. My daughter only has Ariat boots. I can't wear either of those brands. Cowboy boots can have pointed or squared toes. For me squared toe is more comfortable and a very low heal. They come in several different heal heights also. I probably tried on over fifty different styles when in Texas. I ended up with Corrall brand. They were made in Mexico when I got them. Not sure if they are still there. They have more bling but I bought them for comfort. If you can get to a local boot store they can stretch the toe and leg for a better fit. The hardest thing to get used to is the heel slip. It's functional for real cowboys I believe it has something to do with heel in stirrup. I wish I had known all this when I was searching. Many western stores had free shipping and returns years ago. I'm not sure about now. If you are looking cowboy:
