If you read the full alert (Cats linked it below), there are 9 cases globally and 2 in the US. They're panicking because spike protein is mutated. Of course, they don't tell me if that means it binds better or worse the ACE2 receptor or if there's some sort of danger from these mutations. You guys can't get a biochemist to model a Kb for ya, CDC? Anyway, Omicron was similarly different from Delta, so they're claiming this one's going to escape the vaccine (the vaccines won't work). But there's no evidence it'll cause more severe disease (because there's only 9 cases, and they don't know anything about it).

So, if you're an anon who has some risk factors, just pay attention. You will likely get it when it comes through your neck of the woods. We all will. Keep your immune system healthy. Eat well. Exercise. Sleep enough. Control your stress levels. Get out and see the sun for a little while every day. Live healthy, and get medical advice from real doctors about any conditions you may have - don't just trust random "internet doctors" (like me) who've never met you, talked to you, seen your medical charts, or examined you.

But don't be cowed by fear. What they're describing is almost word for word what they said about Omicron. It's highly transmissible, but there's no evidence it causes more severe disease. Masks don't stop it. Nor does giving up your civil rights or civil liberties. Nor does ceding national sovereignty to unelected communists at the UN or the WHO.

The 2nd sentence is meaningless. All it says is that this variant is more transmissible than the current ones. After 3 years and countless variants that have crossed the globe many times over, we've all either taken the shot and/or had the disease. They follow it by saying there's no evidence it causes more severe disease. This is the only thing to really worry about. You worry about when the disease puts you in the hospital and your lungs are so affected you can't oxygenate your blood. That kills people. Right now, that's very rare. The virus takes people who are frail or have severely weakened immune systems. That's true of any infectious disease.

So, if you're an anon who has some risk factors, take it seriously. You will likely get it when it comes through your neck of the woods. We all will. Keep your immune system healthy. Eat well. Exercise. Sleep enough. Control your stress levels. Get out and see the sun for a little while every day.
