Now not an excuse but just to be clear, they did some of this in Paradise, Ca. while they were searching for human remains. And it was to keep the media from being all over every bone found, and also to avoid the ground/ash being disturbed until the cadaver dogs and searchers dug through. And it took months!! It’s more like an archeological dig than just a crime scene. So I understand and can see some of it being protected from being disturbed, until the searchers get to it. But on that scale around most of Lahaina…? Makes even me question what’s going on more.
