I have no problem with EV - I have a BIG problem having an EV forced on me by government mandate. Let's get the "Free" electric figured out and build out the infrastructure, improve battery technology (Toyota is going to revolutionize battery technology in the next few years, you (probably) heard it here first - Hydrogen fuel-cell/solid state battery hybrids). Once that occurs, the market will decide.
Also, how much fossil fuel was used in the manufacturing of the EV? What environmental impact does the mining of lithium, cobalt, etc. have? Those are finite resources - is there a fiscally viable recycle program in place for those resources? How is the electricity used to charge the EV produced? All EV does is shift WHERE the environmental impact occurs and it probably is even worse than the impact saved by not having tailpipe emissions.
