As a software engineer it would make sense to me to use a ruggedized laptop with satellite and/or cellular internet for the current and future iterations of the mobile launch command device. Edit: before stupid remarks about MS Windows being insecure - they wouldnt run that shit OS. It would have to be a custom build of BSD or Linux stripped down to the bare minimum and heavily hardened. The hardware specs of the machine wouldn't even need to be that powerful to connect up, authenticate, and issue a launch command.
