We're not a blue state, or even a purple state. They stack the deck to get their desired result. In the last election for governor we either had to reelect Abbot or end up with Beto. Abbott actually had some interesting competitors in the republican primary, but the fear of them not being able to beat Beto's name recognition created by Soros's money made nominating anyone other than Abbott a risky move. Abbott is only marginally tolerable, but he's undeniably better than Beto. As a result, we have a border state governor who's afraid to take the actions that are needed when we could have had much better.
