The story goes that an old widow had her farm being foreclosed on.
Jesse James gave the old lady the money to pay off the banker, when he came calling.
The banker took the money, and the farm was now free-and-clear.
As the banker was heading back to town, Jesse James robbed him, taking his own money back -- but the farm was now paid off.
