The vibe I get is that Biden and Kamala are "ours" (under white hat control) while Newsom still seems to be a cabal member with some agency.

This feels like a move that would net benefit the cabal.

Edit: I'd argue the cabal is trying to shove Schiff out as well. He has been a liability for a while.
