Additionally, what you describe is probably no surprise to most here, because it’s a continual trend from generation to generation. Same in kind, differing only in degree.
The best (and truthfully only thing) one can do once these patterns have been recognized is to break them yourself, maintain a positive outlook, and be a living example of something better. Those who are truly Religious know their role is to be an emissary for the Light of Truth — like the great Master: to be in the world, without being of it.
And for your own sake, remember that everything is cyclical, and eventually the pendulum will have to swing the other direction. There is nothing new under the Sun.
Finally, it is important to note that the value of being able to focus and concentrate on one thing at a time cannot be understated even if it means having no ability to ‘multitask’. The sooner you begin to work on this skill, the better you’ll be for it, and you may save yourself from years or even decades it may take to unlearn such terrible habits in order to grow in the areas that matter.
