There are ways to improvise an explosive charge onto a crossbow bolt using a shotgun cartridge, not the usual way of putting some wax into it but using napalm instead. Not only does it blow a hole straight though them into the person behind them, but it sets their body cavity on fire and a big gout of fire blasts out of the other side into the unlucky SOB behind them.
