Reason: edit - Might have been on Usenet. Can't remember.

Because I like you people so much, I'll share this story today.

Back in the early 90s, I read a tale in some computer magazine about a guy who had to go to Microsoft's head office for some reason. His contact took him on a tour of the place. While they're walking around, they run into Bill Gates in the hallway. After introductions, they're all chatting when ol' Bill puts his hand down the back of his pants (his own, not the storyteller's), has a little scratch, pulls his hand out and sniffs his fingers.

Now it could have been just someone who hated BGates and made the whole thing up but since those days, we've learned a lot about autism/Asperger's and it's just possible that Gates would do something like that because of a lack of understanding of social standards (assuming he is somewhat autistic).

There is also the possibility that he does things like that on purpose, to "throw other people off". I've seen someone do something similar (not that particular action though) in order to mess with the other person's mind, to give the weirdo a slight psychological advantage over the other person.

Every time I see anything about Gates now, I remember that story. Good ol' "Scratch and Sniff" Gates.
