I understand being poor. I've always been just on the edge. Been a single mom. Had two husbands, the first (10 years married) couldn't keep his pants on. Came from a good Christian family and ran with topless dancers. Him drugs? Yeah. Me no. My second husband died after twenty years. Good Christian family. He didn't want to work. He put the kids on the bus and stared at tv for years. Good man, just a rotten husband. I worked from 14, went to college, got two degrees, drove 110 miles one way to work. The biggest vacation I got was camping once every year. I didn't have clothes, hair cuts or my nails done. I was a single mom twice! I shopped for the kids at garage sales, clipped coupons, had gardens, and prepped before prepping was a thing. My house was clean and my kids had manners and chores. There were times I paid $450 a check in soc sec. I managed to buy a $40k house at 13pct interest. I refinanced when my husband died and still owe $20k. Basically I worked my ass off. I'm tired of people being given hand outs because they can't do the same or even try. In 2016 my health went to pot and I started collecting SSDI. Now l listen to people whine and call me a boomer (hate that word) because my Soc Sec is considered a handout. Don't talk to me about handouts!! Lazy ass, demanding people with no pride and no ambition get handouts! I believe in a hand up! I have no patience for you world view. The welfare state needs to teach reciprocity. No one should be given a handout because they are "poor". They should be given the right to glean after the thresher is done, those with drive and ambition will not be poor long. Those that remain poor, should. Instead of social credit score we should be charting a work ethic score.
