Very nice post fren! Let me offer you a different perspective on your last paragraph though. I think you're missing something, but the prior symbolism and mentions of paganism are spot on!

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Matthew 23:37

A lion has come out of his lair; a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his place to lay waste your land. Your towns will lie in ruins without inhabitant. Jeremiah 4:7

They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you. Luke 19:44

Jerusalem as a typology, is the type. It was already destroyed by Babylon. So, what could Jerusalem mean, then?

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. Revelation 3:12

Here we see the antitype part of the typology; Jerusalem is for those who seek God and seek salvation through the Lamb. So, in other words, it's not as if you live "in" Jerusalem (it was destroyed!), but "of" Jerusalem. Also, pretty interesting that it specifically comes down from heaven, isn't it?

And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Revelation 2:8-9

I also think it's important to put the verse you mentioned with the verse before. This was written during the time of the first church of Revelation, Smyrna, greek for "myrrh", alluding to a cleansing of the church which was through persecution, lasting from 100-313 A.D. This was a time after the Gospel had been given to the gentiles. At this point, the word Jew refers to the antitype, it refers to those who seek God and seek Salvation through the Lamb, those who are all "of" Jerusalem.

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. Revelation 1:19-20

You're right, we are living in the times of Revelation. But want to know what's even more beautiful than God spelling everything out for us? Him giving the entire history, so any generation could read the Bible and understand the times they were living in. For us, there is strong evidence of it being the time of the seventh trumpet; the time of judgement.
