After reading the Sum of All Fears, I felt as if I could have assembled a nuke myself. One thing everyone thought was crazy is Hollywood changed the protagonist from hardline Russian Communist’s to hardline Russian Nazis. I guess it wasn’t so crazy after all. I have always been impressed by his ability to have ten different storylines going on at the same time. So WWlll novel would have an air, land and sea strategic and tactical component, including storyline’s and characters running on both sides in different directions all ramping up to a conflict. Then somehow Clancy brings it all the storylines together in a logical way to conclusion. Sometime’s the conclusion’s seemed a little rushed though, it would be interesting to see some of his books before editing. The editor calls I imagine and says; Tom this book is 32,000 pages long, the CIA showed up and confiscated 823 pages, but it’s still too long.
