It’s not really that big a secret. Lake City in Missouri canceled all their Civilian Contracts. Only doing Military/Defense Related at the moment.

I’d hazard a guess. Uncle Sam has been approaching other companies as well.

It’s led to rampant speculation. But other trends would indicate the Feds/Military are either planning for, or expecting a Conventional War within a couple years or shorter at worst. Maybe a Decade at best.

The Navy has apparently accelerated production of a new class of Frigate and is in the process of laying new Keels. A New Class of Destroyer is apparently going to hit the prototype stage within a year or two.

Airforce announced upgrades to the B-52. And that Prototypes to replace the F-35 and F-22 are under production/refinement and testing.

The Army is Fielding a New Light Tank. Plus finally replacing their standard service rifle after 50 years.

Marines are being reconfigured back to their roots as Amphibious Shock-troopers

All sorts of new Gadgets and Gizmos are hitting testing/deployment phase. Some unconfirmed reports the Military is expressing interest in Exo-Skeletons/Power Armor again.

A lot of companies are seemingly coming out with equipment that could feasibly replace stuff in active use despite no formal contracts being issued or Bids requested.

Service wide reorganization away from the order of battle that characterized the “War on Terror”. Back to a conventional form for conventional warfare.
