It's been demonstrated in real life though. And wouldn't an all-knowing really-smart-actually-too God be capable of such a design? Wouldn't such a feature that best enables life to, as you say, adapt, to change be a more intelligent design than if He simply planned every single bit of everything? Is it just possible that the gents that wrote the Bible (forgive my ignorance, I assume female authorship to be in the minority if at all) didn't actually have the full picture?
