There's a 7-hour difference between the two so usually that's been allowed. And, yes, I've seen many, many duplicates on a hot topic, even in a short time frame. Conversely, I've also had posts of mine deleted as duplicate, try as I might to search for the topic before I post.

The thing is, if it was a taboo topic, the post would have been deleted and not merely locked. Claims that this topic is being swept under the rug are just not true as it - and the prior one - would have been deleted. Instead, we're able to read the interesting comments other anons added.

I'm wondering if the mods are trying to cut down on the volume of posts where duplicate topics are concerned. I'd be happy with that because with so many duplicates I can no longer scan through every post as I did in "the old days". Or, it could be a topic that needs a 48- or 72-hour rule applied.

In any case, this doesn't cry out "nefarious!" to me. Just mho.
